Comic Book Certification Services
Print Collateral & Web Design
Comic Book Certification Service (CBCS) is an impartial comic book certification company in St. Petersburg, Florida started by professional comic book hobbyists with the intent of protecting hobbyists when buying and selling comic books.
Working together with Steve Borock (president and finalizer) and his team of graders and Comic Book specialists, we looked to revive CBCS branding and revamping their website before their big opening day.
The initial direction is inspired by old comic book ads. The goal was to connect people with the vintage comics from the start using interesting textures and era-specific visuals. Our team worked on a business card and banner concept, which they needed two weeks after our first meeting for their first official comic book convention. Below are some of the physical print collateral that concepts that accompany the organization's everyday tasks and marketing.
But after showcasing the first concepts, we agreed it would deviate from the original design of the marketing collateral. CBCS was more than just comic books. They wished to make some updates to their material while keeping a corporate look and minimal design. We continued to meet several times in their offices in St. Pete to make sure we were on the same page.
Even before finalizing the banner and business card designs, we had already started laying out the fundamentals for the website, which was launched on July 21st, 2014. Below are a couple of comps (slider) of the design suggested by the Media Shark design team. For this part of the project, we worked with technology company Cecropia, who was handling the backend programming of the new website.
After some adjustments and late additions, the website was launched. You can now view it at cbcscomics.com. Our team continues to support CBCS and their design needs. Stay tune to the next phases of the site and branding strategy.
